Our Work

African Rising Initiative (ARI) supports projects in various African nations through partnerships with local grass root Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). Through these projects, we are able to uplift the lives of individuals in underserved communities.

EDUCATION

01

Girls' Education Project - Uganda

In Uganda, 60% of girls drop out of school because of poverty characterized by lack of food, sanitary pads, school fees, and scholastic materials. Only 20% of girls make it to upper primary school, and of those, only 10% make it to secondary school. ARI sponsors students to complete their primary and secondary education. We provide funding for tuition, uniforms, school supplies, school supplies, and other education related necessities

Corn Crop Project - Uganda

Increasing sustainable farming practices in Uganda can address food insecurity, poverty, and environmental degradation while promoting a more resilient and prosperous agricultural sector. ARI provides funding for the rent or purchase of land and materials to plant, grow, and harvest corn crops. Corn is a drought tolerant staple food crop in Uganda. It provides not only a significant income opportunity but also an ongoing food source in the form of Posho (cornmeal porridge), Ugali (from corn flour), or cooked on the cob.

Self-Defense Workshops - Uganda

THE FACTS:

  • 10% of Ugandan girls aged 15–19 have experienced sexual violence (latest Demographic and Health Survey figures summarized by Guttmacher, citing UDHS).

  • About 1 in 3 young women (35%) aged 18–24 report sexual abuse during childhood (Uganda’s national Violence Against Children Survey).

ARI organizes and funds self-defense workshops twice a year for women and girls in both urban and rural areas. These workshops help participants build confidence and gain practical skills to protect themselves from assault.

Sanitary Pads Project - Uganda

Providing sanitary pads to girls in Uganda is a vital intervention that supports their health, education, and dignity. Many girls miss school during their menstrual cycle due to a lack of access to sanitary products, leading to learning gaps and increased dropout rates. By ensuring they have reliable menstrual hygiene supplies, we empower girls to stay in school, build confidence, and reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation. This simple yet impactful support helps create a more equitable and supportive environment for young girls to thrive.

Support covers a wide range of services, including first aid, vaccinations, medications, disease prevention (such as HIV, malaria, and other communicable diseases), prenatal and postnatal care, as well as health education—mental health included.

Housing Project - Uganda

Whether for a student, widow, orphan, or teen mom, safe and stable housing is essential for both survival and growth. ARI funds housing and dormitory rent as well as construction projects, equipping these facilities with solar panels, beds, mattresses, linens, and mosquito nets. This support enables organizations to expand their services and better serve the community
