Hello!

My name is Sarah Potter, and I’m a Seattle native with over 25 years of experience in the technology industry. With 19 years of program management expertise across Gaming, Consumer Electronics, Telecommunications, and Education, I specialize in bringing together diverse individuals and cross-functional teams to assess organizational needs, develop strategic plans, identify and address gaps, and implement solutions that lead to program-wide success. My superpowers are empathy, collaboration, and problem solving. I strive to be the leader and the “glue” that holds a team together.

Sarah's Story

I am a co-founder and the President of the nonprofit African Rising Initiative, and I currently serve as the International Chairperson for Eco-Agric Uganda and Technical Administrator for Rescue Women Foundation Uganda. My past leadership includes serving as Chair of the Stanford Black Alumni Association – Seattle Chapter and as a board member with the Technology Access Foundation. I'm also an active volunteer and industry panelist with IGNITE Worldwide, and a frequent speaker at events throughout the Puget Sound region.

On a personal level, for the past six years, my family has sponsored more than 25 students in Sierra Leone, Kenya, and Uganda to attend school or vocational training—five of whom have now graduated from college or received their certificates. As I expanded my volunteer program management services across several NGOs in Uganda, I began to recognize common roadblocks these organizations were facing. I felt a strong determination to help them overcome those challenges. This was the inspiration behind co-founding African Rising Initiative—an organization dedicated to helping NGOs become more sustainable, collaborative, and effective in serving their communities. I asked myself, What would happen to the children I support if I weren’t here? My goal is to ensure these NGOs find the long-term success and stability needed to continue their work, regardless of external circumstances.

I’m deeply committed to expanding access to technology for women and youth in underserved communities. Having experienced what it’s like to be the only woman and/or person of color in the room, I’m passionate about creating inclusive, equitable spaces in tech and beyond.

In every professional setting, I bring a commitment to mentorship and outreach—supporting employee resource groups and providing one-on-one career guidance to help others navigate and thrive in their careers. I believe we all have the power to make a difference through consistent, everyday acts of kindness.
